Unfortunately, the people who need to read this are probably not going to read this because they’e probably off yelling at someone, but if I don’t say anything, it’s on me. It’s story time. Back in 2003 I was a young 20 year old Marine providing security for some Marine officers who’s mission it was to try and bring the democratic process to some regions of Iraq after the invasion. My experience with the United States of America at this point are growing up in it and not understanding what it meant to be lucky enough to being born here, to then getting attacked while in boot camp on 9/11, to then shortly after being in the complete opposite of this country trying to convince them that the way we do things is the right way. So a steep learning curve for me. We would gather together representatives from all sides from the different regions and bring them to a central location to settle their differences and come to some sort of agreement. At least that was the plan. The Marine Officers would act as mediators while we younger Marines, slightly more armed, would be there in case shit hit the fan. Every single time, it would escalate to nothing but them shouting at each other, throwing things, grabbing each other, nothing but chaos. We would eventually just realize nothing was getting accomplished and we would leave because it would never end well. I used to think how ridiculous this was and how if they just understood that if they act civilized and worked with each other they would get so much more accomplished. It made me realize what made the country I was fortunate enough to be born into, that I didn’t have any role in forming, but was willing to fight and possibly give my life to preserve the ideals of why it was formed in the first place, was so important to a free society and free way of living. Stop with the team bullshit. Us vs them nonsense. You all sound like a bunch of idiots. Everyone can work together to solve the issues like a bunch of grown adults and not throw things at each other.
